Graduate applications

Welcome to the Mayborn Graduate Institute online application!

Applicants must meet all admissions requirements for UNT's Toulouse Graduate School as well as the Mayborn Graduate Institute of Journalism. The requirements for application and admission to both UNT and to the Mayborn are listed at the link here. This document includes a detailed list of requirements for the online portfolio. Note that admission to UNT to study in a graduate program does not automatically admit you to the Mayborn Graduate Institute of Journalism. Your portfolio is the ultimate admission piece to study for your master's degree in the Mayborn.

Directions

  1. Apply to the Toulouse Graduate School.
  2. Create an account (at the left) for an online portfolio.
  3. Submit an online portfolio for review.

Deadlines

The Mayborn Graduate Institute is currently accepting applications for new students. We encourage all students to apply as early as possible to allow time for the review process.

International students applying online need to be aware that the review process may take longer due to transcript and language proficiency evaluation.

All application materials submitted online (see process below) to the Mayborn Graduate Institute office must be received by one of the following deadlines:

  • Fall Semester– June 15
  • Spring Semester– October 15
  • Summer Semester– April 15

Directions for submitting portfolio

The Mayborn Graduate Institute of Journalism now only accepts online applications. Please see the information below for writing pieces required and instructions for creating your own online application.

All questions about the admission process or the graduate program in journalism should be directed to the graduate student coordinator (MaybornGraduateInstitute@unt.edu) at 940-565-4564 or in Room 207 of the General Academic Building on the UNT campus.

    • For APR candidates--résumé only
