Swimming & Diving Begins Competition At C-USA Championships

ATLANTA — The North Texas swimming and diving team sits in a tie for fourth place after a short day one at the Conference USA Championships in Atlanta. The meet’s first day of action included two events, both relays.

In the first event of the evening, the 200-yard medley relay team of freshman Rebekah Bradley, sophomore Sarah Vaisse, sophomore Caroline Culpepper and senior Bianca Bocsa took fifth overall with a time of 1:41.70, which is also the second-fastest in school history.

The Mean Green concluded the day with the 800-yard freestyle relay, where the team of sophomore Isabelle Morris, freshman Sara Whelan, freshman Natalia Kwiatkowska and freshman Katie Moore finished fourth in the event. Their time of 7:22.48 is also the eighth-fastest time in school history.

With three days left in the Conference USA Championships, North Texas has 58 points and is tied with Old Dominion for fifth place. FIU swept both relay events and sits atop the leaderboard with 80 points. Rice and Marshall are tied for second with 66 points apiece.

Tomorrow’s second day of competition will begin with preliminaries that begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the finals that begin at 5 p.m. The schedule of events includes the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle relay.
