Important Loan Announcement

As of October 1, 2013, the federal sequester increases the origination fees charged to Direct Loan borrowers beyond the July 2013 increases. However, the new loan fee percentages will apply only to loans where the first disbursement is made on or after December 1, 2013 and loans where the first disbursement is made on or after October 1, 2014.

The new loan fees will be:

  • Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans first disbursement date on or after 12/1/2013 and before 10/1/2014 is 1.072%
  • Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans first disbursement date on or after 10/1/2014 and before 10/1/2015 is 1.073%
  • Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans first disbursement date on or after 10/1/2015 and before 10/1/2016 is 1.068% 
  • Direct PLUS Loans (both parent and graduate student PLUS Loans) first disbursement date on or after 12/1/2013 and before 10/1/2014 is 4.288%
  • Direct PLUS Loans (both parent and graduate student PLUS Loans) first disbursement date on or after 10/1/2014 and before 10/1/2015 is 4.292%
  • Direct PLUS Loans (both parent and graduate student PLUS Loans) first disbursement date on or after 10/1/2015 and before 10/1/2016 is 4.272%

Direct Loan program

The University of North Texas participates in the William D.
