UNT-International

The International Peer Mentor program is a service-oriented program established to assist newly admitted UNT international students in their pre-arrival preparation and to help with their transition into their new environment during the New International Student Orientation. International Peer Mentors closely work with the International Welcome Center, the coordinating office of this program.

International Peer Mentor Requirements:

• You have to have been a UNT student for at least a year
• You have to be able to commit for a year (Fall and Spring semesters)
• You have completed the Eagle E.D.G.E. Certification Program

Furthermore, preferred candidates have also been:

• involved/volunteered in UNT-International events and programs
• You have been/are an International Ambassador.

International Peer Mentor Duties: 

• You will be contacting a list of newly admitted/incoming international students via e-mail
• You will assist and may on occasion be a peer support for your mentees to questions ranging from the seasonal temperatures of Denton to questions regarding mandatory orientations
• You are not required to be in Denton during the summer or winter break for pre-arrival communication; however, attendance is mandatory for trainings and on orientation day
• You will assist in the Fall and Spring International Student Orientation and special orientation events, such as, the Welcome Party, rodeo trip (Fall only) and other possible orientation events Please fill out the following application if you are interested in becoming an International Peer Mentor and return it in to the International Center (Marquis 110) or via e-mail: internationalcenter@unt.edu.
