Strings

The String Area of the College of Music is an integral part of one of the largest and most comprehensive music schools in the world.

String students at UNT:

  • Study with world class performers, teachers and recording artists.
  • Receive important solo, chamber music, orchestral, early music, contemporary and jazz performance opportunities.
  • Receive numerous well-paying professional performing opportunities in the Dallas-Ft. Worth region.
  • Have the chance to study and practice pedagogy and teaching skills through many Teaching Fellow and Teaching Assistantship offerings and through the String Project program.

String students at UNT have won many major solo competitions, are regularly chosen to perform in the leading summer music festivals, and hold positions in top orchestras and teaching institutions throughout the world. The UNT string area regularly offers guest artist master classes with leading teachers and performers. Recent guests include Pinchas Zukerman, principals from the Cleveland and Philadelphia Orchestras, and artists from Chamber Music International.
