Returning Items to the Libraries

Most regular circulating items may be returned to any of our book drops with the exception of Music Library audio recordings and Media Library items.  Please note:

  1. Reserve items should be returned to the library/desk they were checked out from.
  2. Fragile items should not be deposited in a book drop if there is a reasonable chance that the item will be damaged as a result.
  3. Fines/Fees are charged for late/damaged returns.
  4. Media items should be returned to the Media Library Service Desk.
  5. Music CDs should be returned to the Music Library Service Desk.
  6. Laptops must be returned to the desk where they were originally checked out. More info below.

Location Return Policies

Willis ​Library
  • 1st Floor Library Services Desk
  • Willis Outside Book Drop
  • Highland St. Book Drop

Return regular circulating materials borrowed from any
UNT Libraries location, Interlibrary Loan, & Willis General Reserves.

Exceptions:
No returns of Music Library Audio Recordings or Media Library Items. Doing so will result in an additional fee.
  • Music Library Service Desk
 Accepts returns of all music items during regular hours.
  • Music Library CD Drop Box
 Return recordings after hours.

Discov​ery Park Library
  • Room B112

Return regular circulating materials borrowed from any
UNT Libraries location, Interlibrary Loan, & Discovery Park Reserves.

Exceptions:
No returns of Music Library Audio Recordings or Media Library Items. Doing so will result in an additional fee.

Eagle Commons Library
  • 1st Floor Library Services Desk
  • Outside Book Drop

Return regular circulating materials borrowed from any
UNT Libraries location, Interlibrary Loan, & Eagle Commons Library Reserves.

Exceptions:
No returns of Music Library Audio Recordings or Media Library Items. Doing so will result in an additional fee.

Media Library
  • Media Service Desk
 Accepts returns of all media items during regular hours.
  • Inside Drop Box
    1st floor Chilton Hall outside Media Library entrance

Return media materials when Media Library is closed.

Exceptions:
No returns of Media Library Equipment or 16mm film.
  • Outside Drop Box
    North 1st floor entrance of Chilton Hall

Return media materials when Chilton Hall is closed.

Exceptions:
No returns of Media Library Equipment or 16mm film.

Media Library Courier Service Returns:

Media Returns for Dallas Campus Students:

  • Contact the Dallas Campus regarding Media Library material returns.
  • Media materials checked out on the Denton Campus may not be returned at the Dallas Campus without prior permission.

Laptop Returns

  • DO NOT RETURN A LAPTOP THROUGH THE OUTSIDE BOOK DROPS.
  • All laptops must be returned to the appropriate desk 30 minutes before the Libraries close.
