George Odufuwa dominated the boards by grabbing a career-high 18 rebounds in the game. He surpassed his previous career mark of 13 set against Arkansas State on 1-10-09. It was the second time in a week that a North Texas player has pulled down 15 or more rebounds in a game --teammate Eric Tramiel grabbed 15 against Florida International one week ago.
Odufuwa’s 18 rebounds ties him for eighth best among the school’s all-time single-game rebounding leaders.
Odufuwa’s 18 boards also set a new single-game high in the Sun Belt Conference this season.
He missed posting his third double-double of the season by two points, finishing with eight points.
Eric Tramiel’s team-leading 19 points marked the tenth time in the last 13 games that he
has scored in double digits.
Adam McCoy was one of three Mean Green players to score in double figures, finishing with a season-high 15 points, including shooting 5-of-10 from three-point range.
McCoy’s five three-point field goals tied his career-high in that category, equaling the five he connected on last season against Arkansas State on 3-5-08.
McCoy’s performance from three-point range marked his eighth game this season in which he’s connected on two or more three-pointers.
Tristan Thompson, the other North Texas player in double figures with 11 points, hit 4-of-8 FGs and went 3-of-3 at the free throw line. It marked his 11th double-figure game of the season.
The announced crowd of 3,557 was the season’s second-largest home crowd, trailing only the 3,782 in attendance for Florida Atlantic on 1-17-09.
The UNT loss ended what was a four-game win streak.
The Troy victory marked the first time in the six-game series between the two schools that the Trojans have defeated the Mean Green in Denton.
The Mean Green did not register a blocked shot in the game, marking the first time all season (20 games) that NT has not had at least one block in a game.
