The online program is geared toward criminal justice practitioners interested in advancing their careers and working professionals interested in pursuing careers in criminal justice.

The online Master of Science in Criminal Justice is a two-year program consisting of four (4) required core courses (12 Hours), 21 hours of electives from criminal justice (9 hours of elective courses from outside the discipline can be completed), and 3 hours of a capstone course that will assist the student in integrating their skills into a practical setting (for a total of 36 hours to complete the degree).

The Department of Criminal Justice is dedicated to continuing growth as a leader in developing high quality internet and web-based instruction, and to increasing the use of new and innovative technology in the delivery of its instructional programs to individuals whose circumstances prevent them from regularly attending classes on the university campus. The online program allows students to complete coursework around their schedules and finish their degree in two years.

  • You may enter the corporate world as a security officer or a contingency manager, assisting in investigations of internal theft and fraud.  
  • You may work as a detention or custodial officer in a city, county, state or federal jail or prison.  You may serve as a probation or parole officer at the county, state or federal level.  
  • With additional graduate school training, you may become a criminal lawyer, a victm's advocate, an administrator with a criminal justice agency or a researcher in crime and law enforcement..

How does it work?

  • The 36-hour Online MS in Criminal Justice requires four (4) required core courses (12 hours), 21 hours of electives from criminal justice (9 hours of elective courses from outside the discipline can be completed), and 3 hours of a capstone course that will assist the student in integrating their skills into a practical setting (for a total of 36 hours to complete the degree).
  • Online course schedule rotates throughout Fall, Summer, and Spring with many courses offered each semester -- allowing you to easily fit the courses offered to your personal schedule. 
  • If you take three courses each session, you can earn your Online MS in Criminal Justice in as little as two years.

The Spring 2016 deadline for submission is December 1st.
