Undergraduate

The Department of Criminal Justice offers an internship program for undergraduate students which provide an opportunity to gain “hands-on” practical experience by working with practitioners in the various areas of the criminal justice system. These areas include local, state, or federal agencies; law enforcement adjudication; probation and corrections; and corporate or governmental security. The program provides a connection between the environment of classroom learning and the hands-on experience in the professional world. Internships provide students the opportunity to determine which area of the field is the best fit. An internship experience can confirm a student’s future career plans, and can provide an opportunity for self-evaluation of goals, attitudes, and values. Awareness of the demands of the profession, as well as awareness of additional career opportunities is provided to those who are selected as interns. Additionally, employers are provided an opportunity to evaluate the student’s growth and may provide opportunities for future placement.
