Prospective Student-Athlete Information - Women's Basketball

We are excited about your interest in the University of North Texas and Mean Green women's basketball, a program which has a rich history and an exciting future.

Quick Hits On North Texas Women's Basketball
Under the leadership of new head coach Jalie Mitchell, the Mean Green took a major step forward in 2015-16, and North Texas finished with an 11-19 record that more than doubled the team's win total from a season prior. A true mark of the competitive fire that Mitchell instilled in her team all season, the Mean Green picked up its first win of the year over No. 17 Oklahoma, good for the program's only win over a ranked team. The Mean Green built on that success throughout the year and would go on to win its first Conference USA Tournament game before falling in the second round. Junior Kelsey Criner - a key transfer for Mitchell and her staff - was named to the C-USA All-Defensive Team for her play throughout the season. North Texas will return 10 players for the 2016-17 basketball season.

The Women's Basketball Coaching Staff
Please note that, per NCAA rules, coaches can only respond via e-mail to juniors (after September 1) and seniors in high school. Coaches must mail responses to freshmen and sophomores, per NCAA rules. You can call any North Texas coach, but they cannot return your phone call unless you are a senior in high school.

Facilities
Recognized as one of the finest college basketball facilities in the nation, the Super Pit is home to both the University of North Texas men's and women's basketball teams. Built in 1973, the coliseum is designed for multi-purpose use and is frequently the setting for concerts and theater stage productions as well as athletic events. In 2013, the "E" Practice Facility opened, providing the men's and women's basketball teams with their own practice court.

Named for its benefactor, alumnus Ernie Kuehne, who spearheaded the fund raising to build a practice facility for the men's and women's basketball teams, softball, and golf, the "E" is located in the Mean Green Village on the west side of Bonnie Brae St. across the driveway from the Volleyball Center. The facility's centerpiece is a full-length basketball court, complete with lockerrooms and scoreboard, allowing Mean Green basketball players to practice at any time.

Academic Athletic Services
In the Fall of 2005, the academic and compliance staff relocated to the Mean Green Village. Located on Bonnie Brae, the new Student-Athlete Development Center is three times the size of the former academic center. The Center serves as the cornerstone of the Mean Green Village and is only a short walk from the surrounding sports facilities.
