UNT alumnus Lisa Mercer creates app to report human trafficking incidents

Lisa Mercer, a design research graduate created the smartphone app Operation Compass to help people report incidents of human trafficking, especially truck drivers hesitant to share crimes they witness with authorities.

Green Pride: Be bold, be proud wearing UNT tartan

Join UNT in commemorating 125 years since our founding in 1890 by wearing UNT tartan starting this summer. The university's official tartan design was created by College of Visual Arts and Design student Casey Heidt ('15) as a unique and lasting way to show your green pride during our 125th anniversary celebrations and for years to come.

Texas Fashion Collection's Charles James piece on display at New York Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Texas Fashion Collection has four outfits by famed designer Charles James -- and one of them played a role in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art's exhibition of James' works, "Beyond Fashion," running until Aug. 10. The collection loaned an understructure of an evening gown's skirt.

Uniform designs

My daughter Kristen Ashworth ('12) and I noticed the photo of the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm and Blue Dancers in the fall issue. Kristen, who earned her UNT degree in fashion design, designed those uniforms.
