Prof. Brand’s scholarly interests include the medieval liturgy, musical institutions in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and the history of music theory and pedagogy. He has published in such journals as The Journal of Musicology, Plainsong and Medieval Music, Early Music History, and Renaissance Quarterly. His book, Holy Treasure and Sacred Song: Relic Cults and their Liturgies in Medieval Tuscany, will be published by Oxford University Press in 2014.
