MHTE Undergraduate Club

The undergraduate MHTE club is open to all music history and theory majors and minors. The purpose of the club is to find and meet people who share a common interest in music history, theory, and ethnomusicology and to have fun at the same time. Activities may include hosting forums for sharing research/ideas and exploring the various sub-disciplines of the field, organizing events, and supporting other music-related undergraduate groups. One member of the group also serves on the Student Advisory Council, allowing the group to express student sentiments to the music faculty.

Student Advisory Council Representative –

Faculty Advisor – Dr. Samantha Inman

How to join the undergraduate MHTE club: e-mail your contact information, including your name, your year at UNT, and phone number to Dr. Samantha Inman at samantha.inman@unt.edu

Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Student Research Conference

Collin College is hosting the 7th annual Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Student Research Conference on April 13 & 14, 2016.  This event showcases research from undergraduate students from Collin College, UNT, UT, SMU, UTD, UTA, TWU, TCU, Angela State, DBU, the University of Arizona, The University of Kansas, Oklahoma State, and even Canada.

The deadline for submissions is Feb 26, 2016.

- free and open to the public. We encourage presenters to bring friends, family, classmates, and mentors.
· Students may submit research from any discipline and in most forms (research papers, experiments, annotated bibs, literature reviews, etc.)
· Students may submit partially-completed research if they have not yet completed it fully.
· Presenters may present in a traditional panel format, or as a roundtable or performance, or in a poster board session. The choice is theirs!
· We have an approximate 40% acceptance rate, so the conference is quite competitive.
· 5 students will be chosen for the “Top Paper” award. Those students will present together and will be awarded gift baskets and framed certificates at the April 13th keynote/lunch. A promotional photo op will also take place then, for future PR and publication purposes.
· We allow “immediate acceptance” to student groups who are sponsored by a faculty member. That sponsorship indicates the faculty member has vouched for the excellence of the student work. The faculty sponsor will act as the session Chairperson at the conference, as well.
