Welcome to the College of Visual Arts and Design
CVAD will be hosting exhibitions in the UNT Art Gallery, the Cora Stafford Gallery in Oak Street Hall, and the Lightwell Gallery all year. We rotate shows weekly in the Lightwell and Cora Stafford galleries during the school year, so there is a lot of variety. Watch the gallery website for current and future shows. A new item on our website is the "Featured Videos" which are focusing on visitng artist, scholars, and designers this year.
The College hosts annual lectures and lecture series throughout the year, including the newly launched Art History Lecture series, the Core Design and Core Drawing series, the College's Visiting Artist and Scholar series, the Contemporary Arab and Muslim Cultural Studies Institute (CAMCSI) series, and individually sponsored lectures including the Nasher lecture, the Gough lecture in Interior Design, and the Davis lecture in Art Education. Additionally, visiting artists are regularly brought to the campus to participate in PRINT, our print research facility, and through our exhibition series.
Last year's Nasher Lecture series speaker was sculptor Kiki Smith, who will be our Institute for the Advancement of the Arts Artist-in Residence all year in 2013-2014! She was on campus this fall and returned in the spring, completing an edition of prints at PRINT, which will be shown at UNT on the Square in Fall 2014. Visit UNT on the Square for their schedule for upcoming events. Our next Nasher Lecture series speaker in Fall 2014 will be Ann Hamilton. Watch for details!
We will once again host the annual North Texas Medieval Graduate Student Symposium in Fall 2016 bringing a host of scholars to the campus.
Faculty

Exhibitions
See our Announcements on the CVAD homepage for upcoming shows and visit the UNT Art Galleries page for information on shows in the Main Gallery, the Lightwell, and the Cora Stafford Gallery. Join us at the receptions. The UNT Art Galleries will expand their operations to Dallas this fall with the opening of UNT Artspace Dallas in November, so watch for show announcements and opening dates! We are very excited about this new window on CVAD in Dallas.
Art in Public Places Program and the UNT Artist Registry
Three years ago, UNT initiated the Art in Public Places Program for the Denton campus. Last fall, we unveiled artworks purchased for the Kristin Farmer Autism Center and this summer new works for the Willis Library and Sage Hall. A sculpture by CVAD alum Matt Anzak was installed in the Business Leadership Building in 2014. Funds are reserved for future projects in Discovery Hall and Bruce Hall, the Greek Life Center, and other buildings on campus. Four major projects will be undertaken in the new Student Union. In support of the Art in Public Places Program, we have created an Artist Registry. Artworks for the Art in Public Places projects are primarily selected from the Artist Registry.. Take the ArtPath and watch the campus transform itself through art!

We gratefully acknowledge the gifts and support of CVAD donors, without which we could not operate. Along with scholarships and program support, in-kind gifts of furniture, equipment, materials, and services provide myriad ways for people to help our students. We have opportunities for volunteers in our galleries and offices as well, so help us when you can as we continue to provide an excellent education for students and great resources for the community.
