Track & Field Split Squads For Weekend Meets

The Mean Green distance runners will compete in California April 14-16 at the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Mt. SAC Relays.

K.T. Woodman Classic 

DENTON -- The North Texas track and field team will be sending its distance runners to take part in the Bryan Clay Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays, while the rest of the team will compete at the K.T. Woodman Classic hosted by Wichita State University on April 14-16.

The Mean Green will be sending half their team to California (Bryan Clay & Mt. SAC Relays) and the other to the K.T. Woodman classic.

Senior Silvester Harrison III will run the men’s 10,000 meter at the Mt. SAC Relays on Thursday, April 14. Sophomore Mike Lowe will also compete in the men’s 10,000 meter at the Mt. SAC Relays on Thursday, April 14.

Senior Magdalena Escobar will run the women’s 3000 meter steeplechase at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Thursday, April 14.

Junior Grady Frazier (Heat 3) and senior James Coleman (Heat 2) are set to run the men’s 5000 meter Thursday night at the Bryan Clay. On the women’s side, sophomore Christina Moralez will compete in the 5000m Thursday night at the Bryan Clay.

Senior Bryce McAndrew will run in the first heat of the men’s 5000 meter run at the Bryan Clay Thursday night. Troy Taylor (Section 4), sophomore Zach Kirkland (Section 6) and Alexander Hita (Section 6) will both participate in the men’s 1500 meter run Friday at the Bryan Clay.

Hita and Kirkland will also be running in the men’s 800 meter run Friday afternoon at the Bryan Clay.

Senior Susie Kemper will be competing in the women’s 1500 meter run Friday, April 15 at the Bryan Clay.

On Saturday, April 16, the rest of the track and field team will be hoping to post top marks at the K.T. Woodman classic. Senior Connor Bey will be running the 400-meter dash and will be a part of the 4x400-meter relay team. Junior Dominique Drayden will be participating in the men’s triple jump.

Sprinters Collin Heard, Justin Joe and Kedron Sowells will all be looking to set personal bests in the men’s 100-meter dash.

Senior Chastity Stewart is hoping to continue her solid outdoor season by competing in the 100-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash and 4x100-meter relay team. Classmate Mona Landry will also be on the 4x100-meter relay team, 100-meter dash and take part in the women’s long jump.

North Texas has less than a month to prepare for the Conference USA outdoor championships hosted by Middle Tennessee State May 12-15.
