DENTON -- In one of the biggest stages in track & field, North Texas senior high jumper Eddie Wilcox has already set the bar and is looking for more success at the Texas Relays in Austin March 30-April 2 this week.

Wilcox, who set a career-best mark of 2.17 meters in the high jump at the Conference USA indoor championships last month, is hoping to showcase his talent on the national stage.

"This is one of the biggest relay competitions in the country and the biggest in Texas," head coach Carl Sheffield said. "Texas Relays provides a tremendous platform for us to showcase our program and our best athletes. Unfortunately it's so early in the season and we're just getting our legs back from the indoor competition season. Nonetheless, it is a great opportunity for our athletes to compete against the best competition in the country."

The 89th annual Texas Relays will take place at Mike A. Myers Stadium and will draw its biggest field yet with over 7,500 athletes from around the country and around the world. A total of 32 states and 20 countries will be represented this weekend in Austin.

"This may be the final Texas Relays for our senior class: Tori Clark, Nadiyah El-Amin, Maggie Escobar, Mona Landry, Ngozi Nweke, Chastity Stewart, Rhenique Williams, Connor Bey, James Coleman, Alex Hita, Bryce McAndrew, Caleb Pryor, Kedron Sowells, Troy Taylor and Eddie Wilcox," added Sheffield. "We want to see them start their last outdoor collegiate season with a bang."

The men's distance medley relay team (McAndrew, Bey, Hita and Taylor) will have a chance to compete with some of the nation's best Friday night live on the Longhorn Network at approximately 7:30 p.m. central time.

Taylor and McAndrew will be competing in the Mile Run live on the Longhorn network Saturday, April 2 at 3:35 p.m.
