Rice Meet Results 
DENTON - The North Texas swimming and diving team capped off a weekend of action at home with a 151-140 win over the defending Conference USA champion Rice Owls. Saturday's victory moves the team's season record to 3-1, the best start in the program's 16-year history.
Senior Krista Rossum had perhaps the best day for the Mean Green as she recorded wins in the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and 200 IM. Fellow senior Mona Groteguth also had a notable day, finishing the meet with top times in the 100 and 200 backstroke events. Freshman Isabelle Morris notched a win in the 50 freestyle, and the Mean Green 200 medley relay team came away with a win in the first event of the day.
Entering the weekend, North Texas had a combined all-time record of just 5-41 against the weekend's competition. Still, the Mean Green escaped with two wins, falling only to a top-ten Texas A&M program that is vying for a national championship. Head coach Brendon Bray believes that victories over such tough competition will pay off later in the season.
"Even more than our 3-1 record, I think this weekend was more about giving the girls a chance to have experiences leading up to the conference championship," Bray said. "We did very well against three teams that have dominated us in the past and I think that will provide confidence coming into the end of the year."
The Mean Green now has some time to rest before returning to action in the University of Houston's Phill Hansel Invitational. The three day competition is set to start on Nov. 20 in Pearland, Texas.

- North Texas accounted for 16 top-three finishes. Freshmen Barbara Wasilewska, Isabelle Morris, Sydney Buckley, Lauren Tidwell, and Caroline Culpepper combined for 8 of those times.
- Morris' time of 1:52.62 is the fourth-fastest 200 free time in the conference and the fastest time by a freshman.
- Rossum's 2:04.37 in the 200 IM is the best time for that event in the conference. She now leads C-USA in both IM events.
