ANIMAL CARE AND USE POLICY (16.12.3.1)
This policy establishes responsibility for humane care and use of animals in research, research training, experimentation, and biological testing conducted at or supported by the University of North Texas (UNT).

AWARD MANAGEMENT OF SPONSORED PROJECTS (16.12.3.10)
This policy sets out requirements related to the award management of sponsored projects. Award management includes responsibility for financial management and oversight of grants and contracts, cost-sharing, cost transfers, sub-contract monitoring, the significant absence of a principal investigator, progress reporting to external sponsors, effort reporting and record-keeping related to a sponsored project.
This policy applies to all faculty and staff engaged in sponsored project activities.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY FOR SPONSORED PROJECTS (16.12.3.3)
It is the policy of the University of North Texas (“UNT”) that no proposed, awarded, or ongoing UNT research project or educational activity shall be biased by any significant financial interest of any investigator responsible for the design, conduct, or reporting of that research or activity.

EXPORT CONTROLS (16.13)
  The University of North Texas is committed to conducting research in accordance with applicable export control laws and regulations.   Export control laws are federal statutes that control the conditions under which certain information, technologies, and commodities can be transmitted overseas to anyone, including U.S. citizens, or to a foreign national located in the United States. GRANTS AND CONTRACTS RELATED TO SPONSORED PROJECTS (16.12.3.9)
This policy sets out requirements related to the negotiation and acceptance of grants and contracts related to or arising from sponsored project efforts, which includes but is not limited to federal, state, or industry contracts for research studies; nondisclosure agreements; and material transfer agreements.
This policy applies to all faculty and staff members engaged in sponsored project activities.

Research programs at the University of North Texas that encompass any form of human subjects research must adhere to all Federal regulations governing the use of human subjects.

OFFICE OF RESEARCH COMPLIANCE (16.12.3)
The Office of Research Compliance, as a part of the Office of Research Services, maintains a system of procedures, guidelines, and practices to comply with rules established by the federal government as required as a condition of receiving federal funds. Regulated research compliance areas include human and animal subjects, biosafety, radiation and lasers, conflict of interest, and scientific misconduct.

RECOVERY AND DISTRIBUTION OF FACILITIES AND ADMINISTRATION FUNDS (16.12.3.11)
This policy sets forth institutional requirements related to recovery and distribution of Facilities and Administration (F&A) funds. The University of North Texas applies the federally negotiated F&A rates to all sponsored project grants and contracts, including projects involving federal, state, private and non-profit sponsors. In the event a sponsor limits or prohibits the full recovery of the federal F&A amounts; the institution will recover the allowable amount.
This policy applies to all Sponsored Projects.

RESEARCH MISCONDUCT POLICY (16.12.3.6)
In order to maintain the public trust, the University of North Texas (UNT) is committed to promoting the highest possible ethical standards in research and scholarly conduct. The occurrence of research misconduct undermines the integrity of the institution and damages the reputation of all researchers affiliated with the institution. Therefore, the University must respond appropriately whenever an allegation of research misconduct is made. The purpose of the University’s research misconduct policy is to define actions constituting research misconduct and to establish clear and coherent procedures for responding to research misconduct allegations in a thorough, timely, and fair manner.

SPONSORED PROJECTS (16.12.3.7)
The University of North Texas (UNT) encourages faculty and staff members to seek external support for sponsored projects related to teaching, research and public services. UNT recognizes the principle that such activities increase the excellence of instruction and are vital to the University’s academic mission. Teaching, research and public service activities are considered to be an essential part of the academic responsibilities of faculty members. Sponsored projects provide a resource which can make these activities possible, and this resource should be fully utilized. Faculty members are encouraged to integrate these activities with instruction and to engage in scholarly research activities that lend themselves to the involvement of students.
