Freshmen Duo Leads Men’s Golf At Jim West Intercollegiate

LOST PINES, Texas – Freshmen Thomas Rosenmueller and Ian Snyman both sit in a tie for ninth to lead the North Texas men’s golf team after two rounds at the Jim West Intercollegiate Monday at Wolfdancer Golf Club.

North Texas opened the tournament with a season-best opening round of seven-under 281 and scored a tough second round score of 293 (five-over par). The Mean Green came into the tournament ranked No. 58 according to Golfstat rankings and hoping to continue to climb sitting in a tie for third entering the final round Tuesday morning.

Rosenmueller fired a first round five-under par 67 but finished with a 75 (three-over par) in round two to finish in a tie for ninth place after two rounds. Snyman shot a three-under par 69 in round one and a one-over par 73 in round two to also sit in a tie for ninth place.

Junior Cory Churchman is tied for 21st after putting up a 72 and a 73 in round two. Churchman is only three shots back of his freshmen teammates at one-over par 145 heading into the final round. Classmate Alejandro Villasana is also tied for 21st shooting scores of 73 (round one) and 72 (round two).

Sophomore Michael Cotton fired a first round one-over par 73 but struggled in round two finishing with a seven-over par 79 in 52nd place. Junior Nick Rodriguez, playing as an individual, had solid rounds of 74 (two-over par) and 73 (one-over par) to sit in a tie for 28th.
