The College of Education marked the final week of UNT's 125th celebration with a fun reception today in Matthews Hall! Our very own Jim Laney, chair of the Department of Teacher Education and Administration, just so happens to be the grandson of UNT's eighth president, James C. Matthews (as in Matthews Hall ... Cool, right?!).

Dr. Laney told stories about growing up on UNT's campus. The landscape may be different, but our commitment to education is just as strong! Learn more at 125.unt.edu. ‪#‎UNT‬ ‪#‎UNTCOE‬

We're always proud of our wonderful faculty, but this past January, they really went above and beyond when faculty member R. Jefferson George (far right, speaking to UNT President Neal Smatresk) suffered a heart attack during a college meeting. Fellow faculty members Doryce Judd, Jakob Vingren and Jeanne Tunks, as well as first responder Cpl. Pete Uranga, jumped into action to save Dr. George's life with CPR.

Today the president celebrated their quick thinking and their lifesaving actions. Many of the firefighters who helped that day were also able to attend. Bravo! ‪#‎UNT‬ ‪#‎UNTCOE‬
