Position:

The Department of Teacher Education and Administration seeks a Lecturer of Bilingual/ESL Education for its initial teacher certification programs, with the appointment beginning in Fall 2015. All standard University of North Texas, College of Education, and relevant Department of Teacher Education and Administration faculty personnel rules and procedures apply to this position.

 

Rank and Salary:

This is a non-tenure track, three-year Lecturer appointment (with the possibility of renewal) at a salary that is competitive and commensurate with rank and experience.

   

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include teaching four courses each semester of the academic year (fall and spring).  These courses may relate to Bilingual/ESL foundations, issues and perspectives, curriculum and assessment, approaches to content-based learning, and/or instructional strategies and resources,   It is possible that one course assignment each semester could be replaced by supervision of a Professional Development School cadre or supervision of student teachers.  Other responsibilities include contributing to program development and student support and engaging in departmental and program-area initiatives.  Summer school teaching is possible but is dependent on budget and demand.

   

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will have an earned master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours related to bilingual/ESL education.  Also required is EC-12th grade teaching experience or other appropriate professional experience related to EC-12 instruction.
Preference will be given to applicants who hold a doctoral degree, who have teaching experience in grades EC-12 with linguistically and culturally diverse students, and who have taught teacher education courses at the college level.
