The “2015 Vietnamese American Music Festival” will be held at the Grand Concert Hall in the Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi from August 20th-22nd. The event will draw the participation of well known foreign and local artists such as Honna Tetsuji, Japanese music director and principal conductor of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra; Dutch flutist and composer Paul Leenhouts, Director of the Early Music Department and the UNT Baroque Orchestra at the University of North Texas; and Cynthia Roberts, one of America’s leading performers on the Baroque violin.

Children’s chorus welcomes new director

The Children’s Chorus of Greater North Texas is beginning its new season by saying farewell to its long-time director, welcoming a new director and recruiting new members.

Retiring as director is Susan Matthews who formed the non-profit choir in 2003. Since that time, she has directed the chorus in multiple concerts each year, promoting the art of vocal music. A voice and piano teacher, Matthews earned a master of arts degree in voice, music theater and vocal pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University and a bachelor of music degree from Colorado State University. VALDOSTA — Valdosta Choral Guild returns to rehearsals next week with a new director.

Ronda L. Paoletti will direct during the next several weeks to prepare the long-running Valdosta singing group for its annual Christmastime concerts, said Jim Rinehart, a Guild member.
