You can “learn by doing” while working at The Club at Gateway Center, a state-of-the-art student- operated restaurant, and develop your culinary skills in The Marriott Culinary Lab. Other insights into the industry are available by participating in field seminars, attending special lectures and meeting executives in our executive-in-residence program.
The annual Career Expo will help you meet representatives from well-known hospitality companies who are recruiting for management positions and internships.
Our faculty members are recognized experts with academic and industry experience. They conduct research on relevant issues ranging from sustainable tourism to restaurant management and technology.

We sponsor several student organizations that allow you to practice professional engagement and leadership skills. Those organizations include student chapters of the Eta Sigma Delta International Honor Society, the Club Managers Association of America, the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality, the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association and several other international, national and regional organizations.

Our program was the nation's first accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (P.O. Box 400; Oxford, Md. 21654; telephone 410-226-5527). This accreditation means that we meet or exceed strict academic standards for excellence in education. The program is also one of the nation's largest, attracting students from all over the world.
As a Hospitality Management major, you'll complete a hospitality business-management curriculum, including courses in accounting, finance, human resources, information technology, law, management, marketing and strategic management.
You'll also participate in hospitality operations classes and a paid internship, all focused on the industry's inner workings.
The Hospitality Career Development Coordinator will help you find a paid internship and assist you with your entry into the profession upon graduation.
The Career Center, Learning Center and professional academic advisors are among the many valuable resources available to you at UNT. The Career Center provides advice about internships, future employment opportunities and getting hands-on experience in your major. The Learning Center offers workshops on speed reading, study skills and time management. Academic advisors help you plan your class schedule each semester.
We encourage you to fulfill the graduation requirements for the distinguished level of achievement under the Texas Foundation, Recommended or Distinguished Achievement high school program or the equivalent.
In your junior year, take the SAT or ACT and have your scores sent to UNT. In your senior year, apply for admission at Apply Texas by March 1 and request that your high school transcript be sent to the UNT admissions office.
Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses can count toward college credit at UNT.

Proper planning will allow you to receive the maximum amount of transfer credits.
