UMB Bank Hires Mina Castaneda as Senior Vice President of Healthcare Lending in Texas

UMB Bank, a subsidiary of UMB Financial Corp. , has hired UNT alumna Mina Castaneda as senior vice president of healthcare lending out of the company’s Dallas office.

Castaneda is responsible for healthcare finance and senior living finance throughout Texas, Oklahoma and Arizona. 

Castaneda has more than 26 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry, with the last 15 years focused on healthcare lending. Prior to her role at UMB, she was vice president of the healthcare and senior living lending group at Comerica Bank.

New student apartments could be coming to West Hickory Street in 2017, housing 300 to 400 people.

The development is in early planning stages, and the project planner, Robert Baldwin, will meet with the planning division and other city officials in a public meeting Sept. 29.

EdR Collegiate Housing is behind the project, which would replace the current Voertman’s and Subway buildings directly across the street from the University of North Texas campus. Once the new building is finished, the bookstore and the sandwich shop would both move back into the first floor, Baldwin said.

A fresh start: First-time students move into new dorm

Although most of the perimeter around brand-new Rawlins Hall at the University of North Texas is still blocked off with construction fencing, the freshmen moving in didn’t seem to mind.

Once students and families found the designated sidewalk leading to the entrance of the hall and pushed their bright orange bins over gaps in the concrete, they entered a lobby many likened to a hotel.

Hall director Sky McClure said he wasn’t worried about the dormitory being completed before move-in. The student rooms are ready, and as soon as everyone got inside...
