Chef Blythe Beck is no shrinking violet.

The executive chef and co-owner of Pink Magnolia in Oak Cliff in Dallas specializes in Southern food with great big flavor profiles, and the chef will make the trek back to Denton to for the Guest Chef Day at the University of North Texas’ Club at Gateway Center.

Beck, a UNT alumna, will cook with UNT hospitality students for lunch April 5 at UNT’s Gateway Center, 801 North Texas Blvd. Diners will be seated between 11 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.

Hospitality students invite a culinary master to work alongside them on campus each semester, and this spring’s pick is Beck, known for her appearance in the Oxygen television show The Naughty Kitchen with Chef Blythe Beck. In her small Oak Cliff restaurant, Beck offers her take on Southern favorites like shrimp and grits, meatloaf, fried chicken and waffles, and chicken fried steak.

The chef also hosts the cooking segment “Spice of Blythe” on NewsFix on KDAF-TV (CW33).
