Undergraduate research is conducted by students through a number of ways

• National and International Team Competitions mentored by a number of external industries, technical professional organizations.
• Individual research with faculty.
• Innovation Design Competitions hosted by Innovation Greenhouse (http://innovation.unt.edu/). Director Nancy Hong is available 9-12 noon each Thursday by the coffee shop. 
• Senior Capstone Design Courses: Senior Design Capstone.

New Opportunities
Faculty and students, please provide information on new opportunities for undergraduates to experience research to Associate Dean for Undergraduates Nandika D’Souza.

April 1st: Deadline to apply for $500 Undergraduate Research Fellowship http://honors.unt.edu/unt-undergraduate-research-fellowship. Please start the process by March 25-28th as a faculty acknowledgement is required. Want to apply but don’t have a mentor? Write to Nandika.DSouza@unt.edu.

April 21st: The Dallas Fort Worth Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) will hold their April meeting at Discovery Park 6-9 pm. There will be a student poster competition and showcase of undergraduate and graduate students. 25% of all posters will receive a prize and recognition certificate from SAMPE. There will be a buffet dinner.

Attendees from Lockheed-Martin, Raytheon, DIAB and many other companies will network with students and faculty as well as tour labs and facilities.

Steps for students:
Please submit an abstract using the Poster Abstract Template and poster for printing to Kathryn.Beasley@unt.edu. Poster Templates are provided below. Deadline for submission of Abstracts and Poster Files is April 14th, 2016.

You may choose to place your poster under the following categories. Awards will not be limited by category but given to 25% of all submissions.

Infrastructure Solutions: Structural, Material Design, Characterization and Analytical Techniques, Material Modelling and Simulations, Manufacturing and Machining of Engineering Solutions for Structural Applications
