Biography
Dr. Eric Rapley, CPA, is an Assistant Professor who teaches accounting at the University of North Texas. After completing his undergraduate degree at Kansas State University, he gained ten years of accounting experience as an auditor for Deloitte and controller of a private company. Professor Rapley then earned a Masters Degree and Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University before joining the UNT faculty in 2013.
Dr. Rapley’s primary teaching and research interests are financial accounting. He has taught both the introductory Financial Accounting and Intermediate Accounting One courses several times. His research focuses on financial reporting and his projects have included exploring the implications of companies’ attempts to improve their financial statement presentation and estimating the stock market reactions to changes in IRS reporting requirements. Professor Rapley has published in the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, The Journal of the American Taxation Association and Issues in Accounting Education.
On a personal note, Eric is a second-generation college professor and has promoted UNT as a contestant on NPR’s “Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!”. He enjoys running with his wife Laura and spending time with their three young children.
