PACS Facts

The College of Public Affairs & Community Service was founded in 1968 to address problems facing the aging population. Through the years, the college has added departments and programs that tackle important social issues by training students for professional careers that impact our communities. PACS is now the fourth largest college at the University of North Texas with a diverse student body of 2,553 undergraduate and 461 graduate students. The PACS mission is to strengthen communities through education, research and engagement.

A Green Light to Hands-on Experience

  • Emergency Operations Center Lab provides hands-on experience to future city and emergency management administrators using innovative technology
  • UNT SERVES! allows students to live and learn in a service-oriented environment with more than 50 UNT SERVES! students in Kerr Hall
  • Criminalistics Laboratory and Crime Scene Village houses physical evidence such as fingerprints, shoe impressions, firearms, drugs, and fibers for students to analyze
  • UNT WELL (Wellness and Employment Learning Laboratory) provides research opportunities and clinical experience in rehabilitation studies

A Green Light to Community Engagement

  • Behavior Analysis partners with Easter Seals and the Child Study Center to provide services for children on the autism spectrum
  • United Way Student Leaders organization serves the community and addresses important social issues to prepare the next generation of nonprofit leaders
  • Success for Life through Reading has donated over 40,000 books to low-income pre-school children while providing service learning opportunities for UNT students to tutor the pre-school children
  • Speech & Hearing houses a state of the art clinic that provides speech and audiology services to the community
