Induction

The purpose of the Teach North Texas induction program is to provide services and support to all TNT graduates who have moved into their first teaching positions, with emphasis being placed on first and second year teachers. Induction program goals are to: (1) increase teacher retention in the classroom; (2) increase student learning, and (3) provide training and support so that new teachers can move along the continuum from novice to expert teachers.

Students who graduate from UNT and work in a Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex school district are generally assigned a campus mentor by their employing school district. Teach North Texas master teachers will provide university support and additional mentoring. This program is currently funded by grants from Texas Instruments.

All Teach North Texas and UTeach- Dallas new teachers and their mentors are invited to attend our Saturday induction sessions at the University of Texas- Dallas campus. Meetings are from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and will cover a variety of topics that are of interest and concern to new teachers. All meetings are held in the Founders North Building of the UT-Dallas campus. Please click on the left sidebar to see a calendar of events. Additional workshops will be offered during the summer months.

As a new teacher, you are strongly encouraged to get involved in professional organizations! Professional organizations provide a network of support, learning opportunities, and continued growth in your content area.
