Godfrey NT's First All-SBC Frosh Since 2000

MIAMI – North Texas outside hitter Eboni Godfrey earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors on Wednesday, becoming the first Mean Green freshman to earn an all-league selection since Hall-of-Famer Corina Marginas in 2000.

Godfrey ranks second among all Sun Belt freshmen with 3.08 kills per set, and is the first freshman to lead North Texas in total kills since Marginas. Her 354 total kills ranks 6th overall in the league. She also earned Lamar Invitational and Islander Classic all-tournament teams.

An asset on the defensive side of the game, Godfrey ranks second at NT with 2.43 digs per set, and her 23 aces rank second at NT.

She posted a career match against Towson, which featured 21 kill on 74 attacks and four blocks. Godfrey, who is one of just three NT players to start every match this year, showed her defensive abilities in a 21 dig performance at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Godfrey and the Mean Green will take on No. 3 Arkansas State in the Sun Belt Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
