Volleyball Seeks Revenge Tonight In SBC Tourney

DENVER (11/15/07) - North Texas wrapped up the 2007 regular season with a 3-0 loss to Denver, but will get its chance at redemption against the Pioneers tonight at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament at 7:30 p.m.

Denver swept North Texas twice this season, but the all-time series is tied at eight matches apeice and 4-4 in the Cassie Headrick era.

What To Watch For

The Mean Green is a stunning 12-3 when posting a higher hitting percentage than its opponent. However, that mark drops to 0-17 when it hits lower than its opponent. NT is 11-3 when it hits over .200 in a match, and 1-17 under that mark.

Katy Prokof neared a significant milestone against Denver last weekend. With eight kills on the night, the senior is now only three kills shy of moving into second place in school history in career kills. With 1,422 career kills, Prokof trails her former teammate, Brittney Gregory, who racked up 1,425 kills from 2002-06.

Brooke Engel already owns the top two serving seasons in school history, as well as the single game and career records. Now the senior is only eight aces away from fourth place in Sun Belt history. Engel has 236 career service aces, and will be looking to top former South Alabama standout Ninnette Encalade (243 from 1986-89).

After her performance last weekend, Brooke Engel still sits in second place in the country with .89 aces per game, just behind Long Island’s Martina Wagner (.93 a/g) who finished second to Engel in the national service ace race last season.
