VBall Signs Two-Time All-State Setter, Henard

DENTON, Texas – Ken Murczek and the North Texas volleyball team signed one of the country’s top setters, Amy Henard of Brock High School, to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday.

A two-time Texas Girls Coaches Association All-State selection, Henard has led Brock to a 43-3 mark and a UIL State Tournament semifinal berth, which begins on Thursday. Brock has won 12 straight matches via sweep, and 18 straight overall.

Henard is the reigning District 10-2A Setter of the Year as well as an Academic All-District selection, but her biggest volleyball accomplishments have come on the club scene. Last year as the starting setter for TAV 17 Black, Henard led the club to an 82-3 record and the national title game runner-up finish at the USA Volleyball Junior National Tournament in Columbus, Ohio.

“We couldn’t be happier to have a player of Amy’s caliber coming on board to compete for our setter job,” Murczek said. “We’ve proven this season that we have the arms to compete with the best teams, and we’re hoping that a setter like Amy can help us take the next step toward accomplishing our goal of making the NCAA Tournament.”

A versatile athlete, Henard was also a member of the state champion Brock Lady Eagles basketball squad.

No. 3 North Texas will open up Sun Belt Conference Tournament play on Thursday against No. 6 Middle Tennessee at 2:30 p.m.
