Volleyball Falls In Finale At Denver

Box Score

DENVER – Eboni Godfrey pounded a team-high 16 kills but it wasn’t enough to help the Mean Green volleyball team get past Denver in a 3-1 regular season finale loss (25-16, 25-9, 21-25, 25-10).

The freshman took 50 of NT’s 133 attacks on the night as the Mean Green (16-16, 7-9 Sun Belt West) fell in the rematch with the Pioneers (13-15, 10-6 Sun Belt West). NT knocked of DU by the same score in Denton in October.

North Texas entered the match in the No. 6 position for next week’s Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Miami, and will remain that way for today. UALR and Troy remain a match behind the Mean Green with one match to play in the regular season.

The Mean Green’s three-match streak of out-blocking its opponents came to an end in the Mile-High City. The Pioneers pounded the net with a 16-5 blocking margin in holding NT to a .023 attack percentage.

Faimie Kingsley racked up a match-best 16 kills on .520 hitting and 10 blocks for the Pioneers, which hit .215 on NT.

NT’s Sarah Willey was a defensive standout with a match-high tying 18 digs.
