NT Volleyball Falls In Sweep To New Orleans

Box Score

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (11/2/06) The Mean Green volleyball team still has a shot at a SBC West crown, but it will have to work much harder for it. North Texas fell to UNO 3-0 (30-26, 30-28, 30-26) Thursday night, and that coupled with Denver’s win over Louisiana-Monroe drops the Mean Green into second place with three regular-season games remaining.

Cassie Headrick was denied her 100th win by the Privateers (20-8, 9-5) who avenged an earlier loss at the hands of the Mean Green (19-12, 9-5) by holding NT to -.088 hitting in the first game. North Texas  is now 2-11 when losing the first game of a match and only managed to hit .072 for the entire match.

Dobrilla Kovacevic finished with five aces and eight kills to pace UNO who moves to 10-1 on the season at home.

The Mean Green posted three players Catherine Coffey, Katy Prokof and Brittney Gregory in double-figure kills with 10 apiece.

North Texas will travel to Lafayette on Friday to take on the Ragin’ Cajuns, and then to Monroe to challenge the Warhawks. The Mean Green will then finish up the regular season with Denver at home before hosting the Johnny Carino’s Sun Belt Tournament. The tournament is scheduled for November 15-18.
