VB's Top Blocking Not Enough Against Toppers

Box Score

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Despite one of the best blocking outings of the season the North Texas volleyball team couldn’t derail the Western Kentucky offense enough in a 3-0 loss Saturday (25-13, 25-16, 25-17).

Melanie Boykins, Hallie McDonald and Eboni Godfrey all teamed up for three blocks each as the Mean Green (14-15, 5-8 Sun Belt West) landed 8.5 total blocks, which are the second most by NT in an SBC match this year.

The Hilltoppers (25-3, 12-1 Sun Belt East) countered with 50 kills on .330 hitting and nine service aces. WKU’s Jordyn Skinner and Lindsay Williams both racked up a match-high 11 kills.

Godfrey was North Texas’ most effective weapon with 10 kills, while McDonald wasn’t far behind with seven kills on .357 hitting. Sarah Willey led all players with 12 digs.

Saturday’s outing wraps up a four-match road trip for the Mean Green, who returns home next weekend to face Arkansas State and UALR. Sunday’s match against the Trojans will be the final home match for the Mean Green seniors.
