Marginas Again Named Sun Belt Volleyball Player Of The Week

Corina Marginas (Brasov, Romania), a junior outside hitter on the North Texas volleyball team, was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week for the second time in the last three weeks on Monday.

She earned the honor after leading the Mean Green to sweeps over New Orleans and South Alabama in league play last week. Marginas averaged 5.67 kills and 3.5 digs per game to help North Texas get off to its best conference start in school history, now with a 5-1 Sun Belt Conference record.

Marginas became the first player this season to earn Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honors twice. She did it by picking up her ninth double-double of the season against New Orleans with 16 kills and 13 digs and smashing a match-high 18 kills against South Alabama. She recorded 34 kills in just six games over the weekend, pushing her career kill total to 1,431.

The junior standout hit a combined .382, including a .467 percentage against New Orleans.

Marginas also won the award twice last season on her way to being named a Unanimous Selection First-Team All-Sun Belt player. Marginas was named the 2000 Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year and holds the North Texas school record for kills in a career.
