Dig Pink Sweep Over UALR

Box Score

DENTON, Texas - Raising donations for breast cancer research with its Dig Pink campaign, the North Texas volleyball team pounded UALR with .300 hitting to remain atop the Sun Belt West Division by a half game with a 3-0 win (25-14, 25-19, 25-21).

Rachelle Wilson was on the top of her game for NT (12-9, 4-2 SBC West) with a team-high 13 kills on .476 hitting. The sophomore combined with Melanie Boykins for seven total blocks to keep the Trojans (2-14, 0-6 SBC West) off balance offensively.

NT doubled the Trojans with a 46-23 edge in kills, and held UALR to .046 hitting - the ninth Mean Green opponent held under .100 hitting this year, including three of its last fouroutings.

North Texas' passing in the early sets derailed UALR's game. The Trojans scored on just seven of their first 34 serves, which equals a sideout percentage of 79 percent for the Mean Green.

Amy Huddleston also reached double figures in kills with 10, followed closely by Boykins' nine on a team-high .533 hitting.

North Texas returns to action on Tuesday at Denver. The match is slated for 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Gymnasium.
