Mean Green Volleyball Sweeps Troy For Second Straight Win




TROY, Ala. (10/2/05) -- The North Texas volleyball team (8-11, 2-0) recorded a season-high .307 attack percentage in a 30-20, 30-19, 30-19 victory over Troy (7-7, 1-3) on Sunday in a Sun Belt Conference match.

The Mean Green remained perfect in Sun Belt play and won its eighth match in its last 11 outings. North Texas picked up its fourth sweep of the season and its 35th three-game win under head coach Cassie Headrick. With the victory, the Mean Green has eclipsed its win total for all of last season.

Katy Prokof posted a match-high 16 kills and Tara Hooser followed with 15 to lead North Texas. Ashley Bass handed out a match-high 34 assists and recorded a 14 digs to pick up her second career double-double. Jessica Hulsebosch finished the match with a team-high 15 digs and Catherine Coffey led the Mean Green at the net with four blocks.

North Texas tallied 47 kills, while limiting Troy to 35 kills and a .050 attack percentage. The Mean Green also finished with more assits, aces, digs and blocks than the Trojans.

North Texas will close out a 10-match road swing on Friday at Denver at 6 p.m. (CST).
