Marginas Again Named Sun Belt Volleyball Player of the Week

DENTON (9/29/03) -- North Texas senior outside hitter Corina Marginas (Brasov, Romania) was named the Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week on Monday after leading North Texas to a 2-1 record with victories over Middle Tennessee and Louisiana-Lafayette.

Marginas finished the week with 78 kills (6.0 kpg), 46 digs (3.54 dpg) and three double-doubles. She posted 38 kills, which ties her career high, and a match-high 16 digs in the Mean Green's comeback victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on Sunday. The senior outside hitter's 38 kills ties the third most in school history and the third most in Sun Belt Conference history for a single match.

She tallied 21 kills and 14 digs against Louisiana Tech last Tuesday and recorded 19 kills and 16 digs in the Mean Green's win over Middle Tennessee.

Marginas' 78 kills for the entire week gives her 1,907 for her career and moves her past South Alabama's Keturah Carter (1987-90) into third place on the Sun Belt's all-time kill list. She led North Texas in kills all three matches while hitting .349 for the entire week.

Marginas has now been named the Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Player of the Week six times throughout her career. She has 52 career double-doubles and 41 career matches with at least 20 kills. Marginas, who led the Sun Belt Conference in kills each of the last two seasons, is currently ranked second in the league with 4.82 per game.
