FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (9/12/09) - The Mean Green volleyball team made it 2-for-2 on Saturday with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-21) win over Jacksonville State in the Arkansas Invitational finale.

North Texas (2-8) found the win column for the first time this season when it knocked off the Razorbacks earlier in the day, and now finds itself taking second in the Arkansas Invitational with the nightcap win over the Gamecocks (6-5).

Brittany Brown and Brittani Youman earned all-tournament honors after stellar weekends. Brown led NT with 13 kills on .290 hitting against JSU, while Youman sent back five blocks. Brown, a freshman, led the Mean Green offensive effort all weekend with 28 kills and Youman wasn't far behind with 24.

Setter Kayla Saey notched a double-double with 28 assists and 12 digs versus Jacksonville State. Her 74 assists on the weekend helped the Mean Green hit over .200 in each of Saturday's matches.

The block was big for the Mean Green against JSU and all weekend. North Texas outblocked the Gamecocks 11-3, and averaged 2.36 blocks per set while its opponents managed 1.95.

With momentum on its side, North Texas heads to the Comfort Suites Bearkat Classic in Huntsville, Texas next weekend. NT faces Central Michigan on Sept. 18, and host Sam Houston State and Lamar on Sept. 19.
