NT Smashes School Attack Percentage Mark

BOX SCORE

BEAUMONT, Texas - The North Texas volleyball team destroyed the school record for hitting percentage in a 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-11)route of Texas Southern on Saturday afternoon.

The Mean Green (2-1) hit .527 on the Tigers (0-3), smashing the eight-year old school record of .493 set against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in 2003. Courtney Windham and Eboni Godfrey led the NT attack with 15 and 13 kills, respectively, and both hit over .600.

NT out-killed TSU 46-12 and nearly landed as many aces (11) as TSU had kills (12) in the Lamar Invitational closer. Sarah Willey led the NT defensive effort with 10 digs.

Kayla Saey's serve put the opening set out of reach for Texas Southern. The senior landed three aces in one possession to extend the Mean Green lead to 20-8. A Courtney Windham cross-court kill put the finishing touches on set in which NT hit .696 as a team.

NT kicked its serve into high gear in the second frame with six total aces. Hallie McDonald (2), Kendall Whitson (2), Addason Lamb (1) and Sarah Willey (1) all logged aces in the 25-12 set win.
