Mean Green Student-Athletes Recognized For Their Academic Achievement




DENTON (1/27/06) The University of North Texas honored 183 student-athletes for their academic achievements during the 2005 fall and spring semesters last night at halftime of the men’s basketball game in the Super Pit.

 

Students with GPA’s of 3.00-3.49 were placed on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, students with GPA’s of 3.50-3.99 were on the Dean’s List and students with a 4.00 GPA made the President’s List. A student-athlete had to earn at least a GPA of 3.0 in one of the two semesters to make the honor roll.

 

The Mean Green volleyball team held the highest cumulative team GPA (3.06) with 12 student-athletes earning at least a 3.0 GPA. Seven players earned a 3.5 or better in one of two semesters during the 2005 school year and three posted a 4.0 in at least one of the two semesters.

 

Individual student-athletes were honored for earning the highest GPA on their respective teams. Sophomore Katy Prokof received the distinction for the volleyball team. Senior Sarah Sandgren, who was one of 31 women's track athletes last night, held the highest GPA on the track & field team.
