Troy Volleyball Too Much For Mean Green

Box Score

TROY, Ala. - The North Texas volleyball team knew that Troy was one of the Sun Belt's hottest squads, but that didn't stop the Trojans from hitting .306 in a 3-0 sweep of the Mean Green on Friday night (25-18, 25-20, 26-24).

Including Friday's sweep of North Texas (18-8, 4-3 Sun Belt West) the Trojans (14-8, 5-2 Sun Belt East) have now won five of their last six matches, and find themselves in second place in the SBC East. North Texas entered the weekend a match behind West Division leader UALR.

Carnae Dillard and Courtney Windham led the Mean Green attack with 12 and 10 kills respectively, but the Trojan duo of Kayla Pickart and Blair Winston matched the NT pair exactly. Troy's Alexandra Alexander led the match with 38 assists.

NT nearly completed a massive comeback in the third set. The Mean Green trailed 18-12, but took its first lead of the set at 24-23 thanks to a Dillard kill. However, the lead wouldn't stand, as two Trojan kills and a Mean Green attack error ended the match.

North Texas will travel across the Yellow Hammer state to face South Alabama on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
