DENTON, Texas – The North Texas volleyball team stretched its winning streak to six with a 3-0 drubbing of ULM on Sunday afternoon. Carnae Dillard posted 19 kills on a career-high .581 hitting in leading a Mean Green attack that punished the Warhawks with a .357 attack percentage (25-22, 25-15, 25-21).
The victory moves North Texas (16-5, 2-0 SBC West) to 2-0 in Sun Belt play for the first time since 2005, and the six-match win streak is tied for the third-longest in school history.
Dillard’s .581 attack percentage is the third highest by a Sun Belt player in 2011, and her 19 kills are tied for the second most in the league in a three setter.
The Mean Green cruised in the first two sets, but found itself in a 16-10 hole in the third. That’s when Dillard and NT reeled off a 7-0 run, with three of the points coming off kills from the freshman. The Warhawks (4-7, 0-2 SBC West) wouldn’t see the lead again.
May Allen led all setters with 19 kills, and even recorded a double-double with a match-high 12 digs. Courtney Winhdam nearly missed double-digits with nine kills on .529 hitting.
North Texas hits the road for its first away Sun Belt contests at Arkansas State (Sept. 28) and UALR (Sept. 29) next weekend.
