IRVING, Texas - NT volleyball senior and team captain Courtney Windham was one of 16 students named a 2013-14 C-USA Fall Spirit of Service honoree for her outstanding efforts off the court and in the Denton community.

"I was so surprised when I found I was nominated for this award, let alone received it," Windham said. "This award means so much more to me than any accolade I've ever received in volleyball. I love my community, and I enjoy making it a better place."

A communication studies major with a minor in social science, Windham serves as president of SAAC, a planning and coordinating donation, food collection and community service initiative for Mean Green athletes.

She is also active with animal shelters and the Make-A-Wish program, and she volunteers as a volleyball coach at volleyball camps for local elementary school children.

The Cypress, Texas, native earned two regular season all-tournament nods, and finished the year hitting .313 and averaging 1.22 blocks per set.
