Dillard Takes Fourth C-USA Offensive Honor of 2015

Oct. 12, 2015

DENTON - For the fourth time in seven weeks of play, North Texas outside hitter Carnae Dillard has earned Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors. On Monday, the league announced that she is splitting the weekly award with Middle Tennessee’s Chelsea Ross.

Dillard was the star of a team that moved into second place in conference standings over the weekend as the Mean Green added wins against LA Tech and Marshall to move to 5-1 in conference play. Her 27 kills against the Lady Techsters was the most in a four-set match this season for C-USA, giving her the league’s top kill totals for three-, four- and five-set matches on the year. She combined for another efficient weekend, accumulating a .288 hitting mark in eight sets played.

Not only were her totals impressive, but the senior came through for her team in the biggest moments. LA Tech was all knotted up with North Texas at 23-23 in set four before Dillard earned three kills in the final four points to seal the Mean Green win. In similar fashion, tied at 21-21, she once again powered down three kills in the final four Mean Green points of a back-and-forth set three against Marshall, a frame that was ultimately the difference-maker in the match.

In addition to her kill totals, Dillard tallied 25 digs on the weekend, including 16 against Marshall that was good for her 14th double-double in 21 matches played. Dillard is now 136 kills away from breaking the Mean Green’s all-time kills record.
