NORMAN, Okla. - The North Texas volleyball team has made the journey up Interstate 35 in preparation for the weekend's NIKE Invitational, hosted by Oklahoma from Sept. 3-5. The Mean Green will see it's first action on the court in day two of the invitational when it takes on Central Arkansas at 11 a.m. on Friday.

Like North Texas, the tournament's other three teams - UCA, OU and Little Rock - have found themselves off to a rocky start in 2015. In fact, the four teams combine for only two wins so far in the season, meaning the Mean Green's two-day stint in the Sooner State could give it an opportunity to put some wins together for the first time this year.

Match 5: vs. Central Arkansas Bears (1-2, 0-0 Southland)

UCA enters the weekend with a win over Omaha and losses to Seton Hall and UNLV. The Bears are led by senior outside hitter Heather Schnars, who has 3.71 kills per set, a .246 hitting percentage and seven service aces on the year. North Texas hasn't faced the Bears since 1981, but it holds a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series.

Match 6: at Oklahoma Sooners (0-3, 0-0 Big 12)

Despite the team receiving votes in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll, the Sooners come into the weekend with a winless 0-3 record after falling to San Diego, No. 9 Florida State and No. 24 Colorado. OU depends on a balanced offensive attack, as five Sooners have at least 20 kills on the season. The team is led by junior middle blocker Micaela Spann, who leads OU in hitting percentage (.368) and blocks per set (1.29).

Match 7: vs. Little Rock Trojans (0-3, 0-0 Sun Belt)
Sept. 5, 2015 | 10:00 a.m. CT
Live stats | Video

The Trojans of Little Rock also come into the weekend's NIKE Invitational with a winless 0-3 record, despite starting 2015 in the preseason AVCA Coaches Poll. Like North Texas, Little Rock is coming off back-to-back three-set losses. The player to watch for the Trojans will be junior middle blocker Edina Selimovic, the team's leader with 31 kills (3.10 k/s) and nine total blocks.
