DENTON - The Mean Green volleyball team will look to bounce back from a 1-2 start to the season when it matches up with UT Arlington (2-1) at 7 p.m. tonight from the College Park Center.

A trio of Mean Green players hope to build on strong performances from the weekend's Missouri Invitational. Senior all-tournament selection Carnae Dillard put up 30 kills in the team's loss to North Dakota St. en route to a tournament-leading 68 kills on the weekend. Junior Amy Henard also led all participants with 118 assists through the three games. Turning heads in her first collegiate match was freshman Hannah Shaw, who tallied 15 kills, seven digs and one ace in the team's win over Winthrop.

Dillard, Henard and Shaw are each likely to start for North Texas, and their play will be pivotal to the Mean Green's success on the court.

For the Mavericks, UTA has started the year at 2-1 after picking up wins over Campbell and Grambling St. The team's sole loss came at the hands of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in five sets. Senior opposite Stacey Koch will be the player to watch in tonight's match. Over the weekend, she recorded a team-high 40 kills on a .562 hitting percentage, good enough to be named the Sun Belt Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week.

Even with three matches under its belt, North Texas has already seen its share of exciting volleyball. Two of the Mean Green's three matches on the year have been decided in five sets, with the team splitting those matchups with a win against Winthrop and a loss to NDSU. It was the first time since 2001 that the Mean Green's first two matches went the distance.
