DENTON - Mean Green volleyball attempted more attacks than any team to ever play in the North Texas Volleyball Center, but a mix of Boise State defense that led into offense equaled the team’s downfall in a five-setter on Friday (25-19, 21-25, 19-25, 25-22, 10-15).

Unfortunately for the Mean Green, added attempts didn’t spell success as the team’s offense failed to find a consistent rhythm. North Texas (4-5, 1-0 C-USA) totaled 205 attacks on the night, but the record wasn’t accompanied by an on-par kill total as the Mean Green tallied 61 kills on .141 hitting.

The onslaught of North Texas attacks was almost single-handedly countered by Bronco libero Maddi Osburn, who had a match-high 37 digs on the night. That defensive effort translated into the Boise State attack.

Perhaps nobody capitalized on the Boise State defense better than Broncos outside hitter Sierra Nobley, who gave North Texas trouble for the duration of the match. She finished with a match-high 26 kills and 20 digs on the night.

For North Texas, the balanced offensive attack that won the day’s first set eventually began to sputter. Senior Carnae Dillard was held mostly in check offensively. While she had 21 kills in the match, that total was cancelled out by 15 errors and an attack percentage of .090, her lowest mark of the season.

The loss overshadowed the efforts of sophomore Amanda Chamberlain and junior Amy Henard. Chamberlain had a season-high 14 kills on an impressive .522 hitting, while Henard tallied 13 digs and 53 assists, her highest mark of the year thus far.

Up Next For North Texas
The Mean Green now prepares for two matches in Saturday’s final day of the North Texas Invitational. North Texas will take on Abilene Christian at 11 a.m. before capping off the weekend tournament with a 7 p.m. matchup against Houston.

Quick Hits
• After tonight’s 24-dig performance, Dillard only needs 17 more digs to move into fourth on North Texas’ all-time list.
• In all, seven venue records were broken on Friday: Individual opponent kills/attacks (Nobley: 26 kills, 67 attacks), Individual opponent digs (Osburn, 37), opposing team digs (91), NT individual attacks (Dillard, 67), NT team digs (87), and NT team attacks (205).
• Sophomore Meredith Bramer made her first start of the season, the fifth of her career.
• North Texas falls to 0-10 all-time versus Boise State in a series that dates back to 1996.
• The team’s four wins is the lowest win total through nine games since 2009, when the team started 1-8.
• Captains Dillard and Henard each had a double-double on the night and they remain the only Mean Green players to record at least one this season. They now have six and four on the year, respectively.
• If the season were to end today, Chamberlain would have the best single-season attack percentage in Mean Green history. She’s hitting .393 on the year while the record, claimed by Carly Collins in 1994, is .374.
