Mollenkopf Sets School Record During Day One Of SBC Championships




DENTON, Texas (5/7/10) - North Texas Track completed day one of the Sun Belt Conference Championships Friday evening at Fouts Field with Jordan Wehr atop the decathlon and Ingrid Mollenkopf settting a school record.

Wehr, a junior, scored 3,642 points in the first five events Friday morning and is on pace to break his season best mark of 6,664 points, a mark which he set at Texas Relays in April.

Mollenkopf  turned in a fourth place finish in the 10,000 meter run behind three Western Kentucky runners, recording a time of 37:23.71 and five points for the Mean Green women who finished with 11.

Aaron Sirles captured a seventh place finish and two points with his second best mark of the season in the discus, throwing it 47.57 meters.

Senior Shelley Hollingsworth shattered her season best mark in the pole vault when she cleared 3.76 meters, or 12 feet four inches, for a fourth place finish. Hollingworth notched five points towards the women's score, while teammate Kelli Delka added on another with her eighth place finish in the pole vault.

Finishing the night in the 10,000 meter run, junior Patrick Strong clocked a time of 31:56.03, which was good for an eighth place finish and adding the other one point to the men's total of three.

Action will continue tomorrow morning from Fouts Field with the completion of the heptathlon, which begins at 9 a.m.
